Native Canadian Wildflowers Seeds

Saskatoon Berry WS023
Amelanchier alnifolia
Saskatoon Berry grows from 1-5m (3-6ft) tall, has attractive oval foliage, large white flowers in the spring, and edible dark-purple berries in the fall.
The berries resemble very small apples in appearance. It is found in many habitats across North America, growing well in partial to full sun, with dry to moderately moist soil conditions.

Saskatoon berries were a popular food source for aboriginal people – the berries were often eaten raw or dried. The wood of the shrub was used for fashioning arrow shafts, drying racks, and other tools. The berries are also an important source of food for animals such as moose, deer, and elk. Today Saskatoon berries are used to make preserves and pies.

Detailed germination instructions are inside the package.
